A Liverpool Love Story: Hannah & Jack's Bespoke Wedding Stationery
The story in brief: Hannah and Jack's bespoke Liverpool wedding stationery was built around their two iconic venues- the Royal Liver Building for the ceremony and Oh Me Oh My for the reception- with rich autumnal toffee, peach and burgundy florals layered onto a Minimal Monochrome foundation. The standout was a full set of illustrated table names, each one nodding to something personal: their dogs Spud and Primrose, Keith's Wine Bar on Lark Lane, even a Lord of the Rings reference.
If we haven't met before, I'm Becky- the designer behind Hawthorne and Ivory. I design wedding stationery for couples who want something a bit more colourful and a bit more personal: save the dates, invitations, on the day pieces like menus, place cards, signage, and guest books and thank you cards. Hannah and Jack went the bespoke route, which means we built their suite from scratch around their story- and that's where the real magic happens.
When Hannah and Jack reached out about their Liverpool wedding stationery, I knew we were going to create something truly special together. Their celebration was set to unfold across two of Liverpool's most iconic locations- the majestic Royal Liver Building for their ceremony and the ever-charming Oh Me Oh My for their reception.
Having had read more at Oh Me Oh My, I can tell you there's something magical about this venue that makes every celebration feel wonderfully intimate and unique.
What excited me most about Hannah and Jack's project was their desire to weave personal illustrations throughout their stationery, creating a design that would tell their story in the most beautiful way.

Developing the Perfect Design
Hannah and Jack's stationery journey began with my Minimal Monochrome Collection- a sophisticated starting point that gave us the perfect foundation to build upon. This collection provided the clean, elegant aesthetic they were drawn to, but what made their project truly special was how we developed it into something completely their own.
The couple wanted to keep their wedding theme under wraps initially, which is such a lovely way to build excitement amongst your guests! As we worked together, their vision began to unfold. They were drawn to autumnal touches that would complement the season of their celebration, so we incorporated rich, warm florals into the design.
Their colour palette evolved to include rich toffee tones, soft peachy blush, and warm burgundy shades- colours that felt both sophisticated and welcoming, much like the venues they'd chosen.

The Magic of Bespoke Illustrations
The true stars of Hannah and Jack's wedding stationery show were the bespoke illustrations we created together. They opted for a full set of illustrated table names, and each one was a delightful glimpse into their personalities and shared interests. From their favourite local eatery, Keith's Wine Bar on Lark Lane, to their adorable dogs Spud and Primrose… Every illustration told a piece of their story.
One little moment that really made me smile was including their favourite gin- because what's a proper celebration without acknowledging the little luxuries that bring you joy? We even incorporated pop culture touches that were meaningful to them, including a Lord of the Rings reference that I'm sure had their friends grinning when they found their seats.
These personalised illustrations transformed their wedding stationery from simple functional pieces into treasured keepsakes. When I create bespoke illustrations for couples, we work together to identify the elements that matter most to you- whether that's beloved pets, favourite places, shared hobbies, or inside jokes that make you both laugh. The process is collaborative and joyful, and the result is stationery that's unmistakably yours.

I've created illustrations of everything from couples' first homes to their favourite hiking trails, from beloved grandparents' gardens to the coffee shop where they had their first date! Each illustration becomes a talking point at your wedding and a beautiful reminder of your story for years to come.
If you're considering bespoke wedding stationery, these personal touches can elevate your wedding stationery from beautiful to unforgettable.

Liverpool's Wedding Venue Inspiration
Liverpool offers such a wonderful variety of wedding venues, each with its own personality and charm. Having worked with couples celebrating across the city, I've discovered that the venue often sparks the most beautiful design ideas.
The Royal Liver Building, where Hannah and Jack said their vows, is steeped in Liverpool history. For couples marrying in such grand, historic settings, I love creating stationery that nods to the architectural details- perhaps incorporating the building's distinctive lines or our city's famous skyline into the design.
Oh Me Oh My continues to be one of my favourite venues to design for. Its relaxed, contemporary atmosphere lends itself beautifully to both minimalist designs and more elaborate, illustrative approaches. The venue's flexibility means your stationery can truly reflect your personal style, whether that's clean and modern or rich with personal details.
Other Liverpool venues I adore designing for include the stunning Walker Art Gallery, perfect for couples who appreciate classical elegance. Not to name drop... but my Dutch Masters Floral collection would be an exquisite choice for Walker Art Gallery weddings.
Another favourite of mine is Scale, an absolutely gorgeous warehouse venue in the Fabric District, offering an industrial-chic backdrop that's perfect for bold and creative stationery designs.
Hope Street Hotel is another gem in the heart of Liverpool that I absolutely love. We actually had our ceremony here, and our guests still talk about how beautiful and memorable it was- it holds such a special place in my heart. Chic and stylish, this venue exudes sophistication and offers a breathtaking view of the city that instantly captivates. It's truly perfect for couples dreaming of an elegant wedding, where every detail reflects timeless beauty.
Each venue offers unique opportunities to create stationery that feels perfectly at home in its surroundings whilst celebrating your individual love story.
For couples planning their Liverpool celebrations, I'd encourage you to think about how your venue's character might inspire your stationery design. The city's rich history, vibrant culture, and distinctive architecture provide endless inspiration for creating something truly special.
