Wedding Stationery For Every Season

| Becky Smithbury

The short answer: Match your stationery to the season you're saying I do in. Spring: pastel florals- tulips, daffodils, peonies (try Spring Floral). Summer: vibrant blooms and bright watercolours (Bright Summer Floral). Autumn: warm burgundy, gold, burnt orange and textured kraft (Autumn Floral). Winter: deep blues, silver and white with a little shimmer (Whisper Grey). Each season has its own palette- let it guide your design.

Just briefly, in case we haven't met- I'm Becky and Hawthorne and Ivory is my wedding stationery design studio. I make colourful, fun-loving save the dates, invitations, on the day pieces (menus, place cards, signage), guest books and thank you cards for UK couples, with collections (and bespoke options) for every season.

Weddings held in the different seasons of the year each possess their own unique charm and allure, don't they? Each season brings with it a distinct colour palette, mood, and atmosphere that can turn your special day into an unforgettable experience. From the fresh blooms of spring to the warm hues of autumn, the season in which you choose to tie the knot can significantly influence the theme and feel of your wedding.

What better way to echo the essence of the chosen season than through your wedding stationery? This element of your wedding is not to be underestimated. It serves as the first glimpse your guests have into the theme and aesthetic of your wedding, making it crucial to weave in the seasonal magic right from the start.

Choosing the right colours, patterns, and designs for your invitations, save the date cards, and other stationery items can set the tone for the entire event and get your guests excited about what's to come.

Incorporating seasonal elements into your stationery can range from subtle to overt, depending on your preference. A spring wedding might feature floral designs and pastel colours, while a winter wedding could embrace richer tones, like marsala wine, and imagery of snowflakes or pine.

No matter the season, the key is to capture its spirit and reflect it through your wedding stationery, making every piece a beautiful prelude to your day. So… lets dive into a bit of inspiration!

Spring Weddings

For a spring wedding, think of blooms and blossoms. Picture spring florals with soft pastel backgrounds, adorned with delicate floral designs that whisper the promise of new beginnings.

Spring speaks of freshness, so consider light and bright colours and inspiration taken from in season flowers like tulips, daffodils, and peonies. These blooms not only symbolise the beauty of spring but also add a touch of elegance and grace to your invitations.

Summer Weddings

Summer weddings call for vibrant hues and bursts of bold florals. It's a season of vivid sunsets and ripe fruits. Imagine your invitations soaked in the hues of the ocean, sunset oranges, or tropical greens.

You're in luck if you're tying the knot in the UK- the season offers a bounty of flowers that can inspire your wedding stationery and decor. Consider incorporating roses, sunflowers, dahlias and sweetpeas to capture the essence of the season but also add a personal and meaningful touch to your special day.

Autumn Weddings

When we drift into autumn weddings, the palette shifts to warmer, deeper tones. Think of autumn florals that mirror the foliage all around you- burgundy, gold, and burnt orange. Autumn is my personal favourite season for weddings, the wealth of colour is so inspiring!

This time of year is all about the richness of nature's palette, so think of papers with textured finishes that evoke the feel of autumn's bounty- like kraft card for a slight rustic touch.

Winter wedding stationery with cool tones and sparkly details

Winter Weddings

Winter weddings are all about the sparkle of snow, twinkle of lights, and the warmth of sitting by the fire. Your stationery can capture this spirit with shades of deep blue, silver, and white, emulating the season's frosty elegance. Consider adding a bit of shimmer, inviting your guests into the cozy warmth of your winter celebration.

Winter in the UK may seem like a time when nature sleeps, but even in these cooler months, there are beautiful blooms that thrive, perfect for adding a touch of natural beauty to your wedding. Think of snowdrops and ivy... or it could be the perfect excuse for beautiful dried floral inspiration.
