Pantone's Colour of the Year 2026: Cloud Dancer - the wedding stationery trend that you're probably already following
The short answer: Pantone's 2026 Colour of the Year is Cloud Dancer- a soft, polite white. For wedding stationery, that's not really a trend so much as home: crisp white card has always been the canvas under every Hawthorne and Ivory suite. Treat Cloud Dancer as your starting point, then let colour, florals and personality (Bright Summer Floral, Coral Splash, Wild Romance, Black Brushstrokes) dance across it.
If we haven't met before, I'm Becky and Hawthorne and Ivory is my wedding stationery design studio. I design colourful, fun-loving save the dates, invitations, on the day pieces (menus, place cards, signage), guest books and thank you cards for UK couples- either through The Design Shop's ready-to-customise collections or completely bespoke.
Well… the announcement landed with a bit of a disappointing thud this year: the Pantone Colour of the Year is… Cloud Dancer.
A somewhat poetic name for what is, essentially, a very 'polite' shade of white.
I'll be honest, when I first saw it, I was feeling very deflated. After years of bold corals, vibrant blues, and radiant magentas to inspire us, we've been handed… the colour of printer paper.
But then it clicked. This is my everyday playground. Literally my bread and butter. My couples have been effortlessly on trend all along, simply by choosing the beautiful white and off-white stocks that form the canvas of every wedding invitation suite.
Cloud Dancer isn't a trend here. It's home.
And once you've got that crisp, calming blank page? That's where the fun begins. It's the moment before the confetti, the split second before the colour rushes in. From this serene little cloud, we can build the colour palettes and designs that feel like celebrations waiting to happen.
So, let's dive into a few of my favourite super mega on-trend designs that use Cloud Dancer as a base (wink wink, nudge nudge).
The Bright Summer Floral Collection
Colourful, vibrant, bold… all on a stunning base of Cloud Dancer toned luxury cardstock. Dial in on this 'trend', then dial up the colour with bursts of pink and purple with these painterly yet bold florals.
The Coral Splash Collection
Florals not your thing? I've got you. Slap on some watercolour to give your guests a wash of the glorious colour(s) that are theming your day. The beauty of this design, too, is that it can be created in any mix of shades you like through my semi-custom design process.
The Wild Romance Collection
This has fast become one of my favourite designs. The stunning colour palette, the bold typography to give it a modern twist… All printed on the most stunningly textured luxury cardstock- in that all important crisp, fresh, white shade that Pantone expects to have us clamouring for in 2026.
The Black Brushstrokes Collection
Listen, if it wasn't clear by now, I'm a colourful kind of gal. But I also love a bit of contrast, a bit of bold monochrome. And I think this could be just what Cloud Dancer needs- go girl give us something. I just love how much edge this can add to your wedding stationery.
So while the design world spends its year discovering the understated charm of Cloud Dancer, we're already there.
With me, Pantone's Cloud Dancer is ready for florals, illustrations and joyful colours of all kinds to dance across the page. You're already a leg up on the trend forecast, with all the freedom to make it your own.
